Deliciously Ella is a food and lifestyle platform by Ella Woodward. Everything on the website is focused on whole, plant-based foods. Ella has released an iPhone and Android recipe app that rose to #1 in the food & drink category on iTunes and has had her own book published by Hodder & Stoughton and maintained #1 on amazon for 10 weeks and became the fastest-selling debut cookbook since records began ahead of big names like Nigella Lawson and Jamie Oliver.
Verb began working with Ella two years ago and built her a new blog website that focused primarily on her food philosophy and her recipes. To consolidate all of the Deliciously Ella’s digital assets, Verb advised upon a logo rework to include the “radish” that has been symbolic since the start of Ella’s journey which now sits as part of overall companies logo. The domain blog saw a rise in traffic of close to 500% over the next year and the Deliciously Ella brand became a household name with the release of the cookbook.
The new website is an evolution to show the growth of the brand, to include an enormous amount more varied content outside of just the food area, it includes a full ecommerce area with automated digital fulfilment.
Site Design & E-commerce
Verb wanted to maintain the "blog" feel for the website while showing the progression the business has made, therefore the content is shown through a horizontal display and each post gets a strong feature on the homepage and the categories are displayed vertically.
The e-commerce store was built to allow the followers of Deliciously Ella the opportunity to find and purchase the equipment, ingredients and literature that Ella herself uses. Verb wanted to further unify the digital offering by providing an interactive calendar for Ella to post her cooking classes and pop up events and give the users the opportunity to reserve or purchase tickets to these events.
The Deliciously Ella social following is primarily mobile and tablet based and therefore providing a seamless experience across mobile and tablet was essential to the success of the new website. We implemented fluid responsive to cater for all devices regardless of the screen size and built a slide menu to hold the extensive navigation and promote Ella's mailing list and app downloads.
