Key Objectives

We are seeking a Performance Media Account Manager to join our Performance Media team.  We need a bright, enthusiastic and ambitious person to work across a range of different accounts, as well as help develop our proposition and assist with training and managing junior members of the team.

  • A team player, with very strong communication skills – above average spelling and grammar, excellent written and spoken English.

  • A passion for search engines and all forms of digital marketing – and willing to share knowledge with colleagues.

The Role:

The Digital Project Manager plays an integral role alongside the account management team and Producer / Strategy team in owning and delivering the best service for our clients.

As the Digital Project Manager you will be accountable for driving the successful delivery of the South African studio and ensuring optimal delivery methods are adopted for maximum benefit and efficiency.


You will manage the development aspect of projects from start to finish, ensuring they are within the time and resource budgeted.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans all projects end to end and works with the Head of Production to decide workflow
  • Communicates project plans and job statuses to clients and Account Managers
  • Defines project team (internally and externally).
  • Scheduling and direction of team.
  • Foresees and solves problems around delivery issues.
  • Ensures project documentation is signed and project stages or jobs are formally signed off.
  • Monitors and manages performance of developers and scrutinises timesheets with PMO Admin weekly.
  • Focused on pushing as much revenue through the P&L and utilisation.
  • Advises Head of Talent and HR on +ve/-ve resourcing requirements at least two months ahead of requirements (this requires regular communication with Head of Sales to analyse the pipeline).

Communication:

  • Daily communications with developers, designers and other members of the delivery team to ensure they are on track
  • Initiate short daily Pod meetings with producer and account manager to discuss:
    • Status of projects and any major blockers / issues with proposed solutions
    • Any Specification clarification points (can be taken offline with producer if too detailed)
    • Reprioritise projects with account manager where necessary
  • Detailed discussions with producer around implementation detail before and during writing a specification
  • Daily updates of master schedule
  • Emergency meetings with Business Analyst if Specification has lack of clarity for any reason
  • Send/share updated project plans and updated lists of all tasks to Pod, and then client on a daily or, at least, weekly basis (discretion advised based on client preference and scope of update)
  • Send project reports, job reports and release emails to the business

Outputs:

  • Project plans (GANTT charts or other)
  • Lists of modules and tasks, with who they are allocated to, when they
    will be done, estimated and actual time.

Key Objectives

  • Excellent experience with WordPress & WooCommerce
  • Excellent understanding of the core concepts of Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • Excellent experience writing clean, semantic HTML5
  • Some experience writing with HTML template engines such as Jade, Mustache and Handlebars would be beneficial
  • Excellent experience writing well organised, maintainable CSS
  • Excellent Experience with CSS Preprocessors such as SCSS
  • JavaScript, with an excellent understanding of ES6
  • Understanding of modern JavaScript frameworks such as VueJs and React
  • Excellent Experience in writing PSR compliant PHP
  • Excellent Experience in Symphony based frameworks such as Laravel & Yii 
  • Understanding of MVC methodology
  • Understanding of Server-side Architecture
  • Ability to utilise and reference framework documentation
  • Proficient skills within digital design tools such as Photoshop, Sketch or similar
  • Solid experience working from design mockups
  • Mobile and responsive design knowledge
  • Understanding of front-end performance optimisation techniques
  • Knowledge of version control systems, in particular Git
  • Knowledge of Digital Ocean Droplets and Droplet management tools
  • Understanding of continuous integration and using tools such as Bitbucket pipelines or Travis
  • Knowledge of Linux systems, in particular CentOS
  • iOS and Android development experience
  • Experience integrating with third party RESTful APIs

Responsibilities

  • Encourage standard development environments and workflows
  • Help the Lead Developer optimise all technical processes to ensure documentation is accurate and up to date
  • Working on the back end of websites and training those more junior to understand the process
  • Developing new features for our websites
  • Integrating with third party APIs
  • Front end development
  • Assisting the producer with technical specifications and project viability / planning
    • To support production team with live projects and to support sales and marketing to understand client requirements
  • Debugging and resolving issues
  • Improving test coverage, procedure and documentation
